Kütahya is a 5000-year-old Anatolian city, full of cultural and historical richness. As well as being an important province center during the periods of Hittite, Phrygia, Lydia, Persian, Macedonia, Bithynia, Kingdom of Bergamo, Roma and Byzantine Empires, Seljuk and Ottoman Empires, it has an important place in Turkish History as the Great Victory, by which the foundations of Turkish Republic were laid, was achieved in this city.

The world’s largest ceramics, porcelain and glass industries are in Kütahya and 35 different kinds of precious metals exist within city boundaries. About Kutahya Dumlupınar University
Kutahya Dumlupınar University (DPU) is a young university which was founded in 1992. In addition to this, by developing quickly in a short time, today DPU takes place in the first ten percent of Academic Ranking of World Universities. It has a young and dynamic academic staff that was educated in the prestigious universities of our country and world. With its architecture and design, it has one of the richest and most beautiful campuses of Turkey. There are laboratories that enable advanced research opportunities.
DPU offers education with over 45.000 students and its 10 faculties- Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Simav Technical Education, Faculty of Simav Technology, Faculty of Architecture and Faculty of Religious Studies; 3 colleges - College of Health, College of Physical Training and Sports and College of Applied Sciences ; 3 institutes - Institute of Social Sciences, Institute of Science and Engineering and Institute of Health Sciences and 11 vocational schools.
With its canteens, game saloons, hairdressers, cafeterias and food halls, DPU offers its students the chance to take part in many activities to make their lives more enjoyable and comfortable. Various student clubs provide the students with the opportunity to be engaged in lots of extracurricular activities. Also, to enhance the contentment and motivation of the students, DPU organizes traditional spring festivals annually during which different activities like dance shows, concerts, tournaments and competitions are held.
DPU promotes countless sporting activities and thus, students will certainly find here a number of sport facilities to enjoy themselves. It offers various sports ranging from traditional sports like tennis, swimming, volleyball, basketball, aerobics, soccer, karate and gymnastics to the more unusual ones such as climbing, wrestling or rafting. In Germiyan Campus, there is another facility for both indoor and outdoor sports including fitness, step or athletics.
Furthermore, to maintain and develop the physical and mental health of students and staff and to contribute to the socialization of students, several sports events are organized. During the Spring Festivals held by DPU each year, football, basketball, volleyball, chess, arm wrestling and table tennis tournaments are organized.
Food and Drink
DPU has 4 dining halls in both campuses. The meals are prepared and served in modern kitchens under hygienic conditions. Various kinds of meals and price options are available to suit every taste and budget. In Bedesten, a complex structure having cafeterias, markets and dining halls for the staff and students, sandwiches, salads, pastries, desserts, drinks and a menu with hot meals are offered every day. Besides, every department and dormitory has its own canteen, which is on good condition and provides food and drink at affordable prices to students.
DPU Central Library, located in Evliya Celebi campus, provides the students and academic staff a very large study facility, allowing over 1300 readers to study simultaneously. Free access to the internet and online databases is available in our library.
DPU is continuously being modernized and new facilities are being designed and constructed in response to the increasing number of students and further overall growth. It owns recently-built modern dormitories, both private and semi-private ones, to accommodate students enrolled in DPU from other cities.
In Hüsnü Özyeğin Dormitory for Girls, each room is equipped with basic furniture and designed as double room, having wireless system for Internet access. The dormitory has several other facilities including study rooms, fitness center, TV rooms, canteen, laundry room and lunch and dinner services which make student life more comfortable and easier.
There are also other accommodation opportunities available for both female and male students in Germiyan and Evliya Çelebi Campuses. Apart from that, the university runs full-equipped guest houses in Germiyan and Evliya Çelebi Campuses offering accommodation for guests visiting our university for any purpose.
It should be clearly noted that living costs are cheaper than many other cities in TURKEY. Approximate cost that students should expect to spend monthly including accommodation is around 300-350 Dollars.
